About

Bob Tripicchio, Founder and President of CPT and Mary Beth Janssen, CPT’s Wellness Specialist met at a Mind-Body Health Conference called “Journey Into Healing,” in the late 90’s, being taught by Deepak Chopra MD and neurologist, David Simon MD – partners at the renowned Chopra Center for Well-Being. After attending this conference with a focus on Ayurvedic/Mind-Body medicine – Bob and Mary Beth both went on to train extensively with Drs. Chopra and Simon, becoming certified in Ayurveda (means “Science of Life). Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”), natural healing systems – today practiced by millions of people around the globe. It offers a uniquely individualized (instead of one-size-fits-all) approach to healing – based on the belief that health and well-being depend on a delicate balance between mind, body and spirit. It’s main goal is to promote optimal health, not fight disease. Our offerings here at the Inspired Wellness Center are all influenced by this Mind-Body Health approach to healing and well-being. We are certain you will find practices here that can guide you on your journey into healing mind, body soul and environment.

Just Say “Om” – Meditation 101 with Mary Beth Janssen

Why meditate? There is much talk these days of the healing power of meditation. It is the first of the six pillars of optimal wellness in Ayurveda/Mind-Body Health disciplines. It is also the prime training technique to become more mindful. It can help you tap into your unlimited potential, becoming the best that you can be. The medical community now recognizes meditation’s tremendous benefits in preventative health care – for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is also proven to help overcome addictive or self-destructive behaviors. Meditation brings you into a state of restful awareness which can bring greater clarity to everything you do, helping you to respond creatively and positively, instead of reacting mindlessly. Meditation is also a prime pump for love and compassion toward yourself and others.  A regular meditation practice will absolutely transform and rock every facet of your world! Let this talk inspire you to begin, renew, or maintain your consistent and devoted practice.

Lovingkindness Meditation with Mary Beth Janssen

Pain Management Meditation/Relaxation Practice with Mary Beth Janssen

Relaxation of any type is effective for pain management. It’s proven in medical research studies that people who have a regular meditation/relaxation practice are better able to tolerate pain, and they actually feel less pain. In other words, a regular practice can take at least some of your pain away, and make the pain you do have a little easier to tolerate.

In this pain management relaxation practice, Mary Beth will guide you to focus on observing and accepting, and then transforming your pain. You’ll focus your mind in meditation to provide relaxation and pain relief – physical, mental and emotional.

Meditation For Opening the Energy Centers With Mary Beth Janssen

You are pure vibrating energy. Our bodies are densified energy. That is quantum physics. You have the ability to modulate your energy body, thus your physical body through your lifestyle choices. Every thought and action has an impact on your energy system. In the holistic medical systems of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), all illness or disease has long been seen as a blockage or slowing of energy flow. Integrative and functional medicine both are now beginning to understand this powerful premise. Mary Beth shares a brief primer here on your energy system and then guides you through a meditation for deep healing, purification and enhanced energy flow.

Meditation for Covid-19 with Mary Beth Janssen

This is a variation on the renowned Lovingkindness Meditation Practice. This meditation can help to release anxiety, fear or distress that we may be experiencing, given the Covid-19 pandemic. We do this by sending compassion and lovingkindness to ourselves, to others, and to our entire global family. This collective energy can be deeply healing. At this time, we are socially distancing to the best of our abilities, however, this meditation reminds us of our social solidarity, our connection to each other, and gives us an experience of feeling that connection. It reminds us how we are all in this together.

Introduction to Ayurveda (MindBody Health) from The Chopra Center with Mary Beth Janssen

Ayurveda (means the “Science of Life). Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”), natural healing systems – today practiced by millions of people around the globe. It offers a uniquely individualized (instead of one-size-fits-all) approach to healing – based on the belief that health and well-being depend on a delicate balance between mind, body, spirit and environment. It’s main goal is to promote optimal health, not fight disease.

Ayurveda offers a strong framework for preventative medicine. This coherent, comprehensive system places an emphasis on mindfulness, meditation, yoga/physical activity, healing breathwork (pranayama), nutrition-including herbs, emotional regulation, sensory modulation techniques for tapping into our inner pharmacy, and synchrony with subtle but powerful daily, monthly and yearly biological cycles – all based on your individual “dosha” or mindbody energy type. It is also a gentle, patient-friendly, non-pharma complement for managing chronic diseases resistant to allopathic therapies.

Emotional Cleansing with Mary Beth Janssen

Emotional Regulation is one of the pillars of optimal health and well-being. Our emotions are at the root (squared!) of so much of our stress and discomfort. Our issues truly are in our tissues. Unprocessed emotions get “stuck” within us. It’s important to feel all the emotions that bubble up inside us, but it’s also important to know when to let go, instead of “stuffing” them. Stressful or painful experiences are a part of life. They only become toxic when we try to deny or suppress them. Many of us hold onto emotional hurts and disappointments because we have not been taught effective ways to deal with them. As a result of trying to suppress these old wounds, we do not experience the joy or vitality we would like. When you learn how to change your perception of, or emotional attitude toward stressful situations, you remove their ability to negatively affect you. Regular emotional housecleaning is warranted in our devoted self-care regimen. Mary Beth takes you through a powerful emotional cleansing process that can be truly life transforming.

Creating Healthy Boundaries with Mary Beth Janssen

Setting Healthy Boundaries can be challenging – however they are absolutely essential for healthy relationships and in turn, optimal mind-body health.

As we establish healthy physical, emotional and mental boundaries, we protect ourselves from being manipulated, used, or violated by others. Each one of us is a unique individual with distinct emotions, needs and preferences. As we set personal boundaries, we preserve our self-respect and integrity, take responsibility for having our needs met, and in essence, take control of our life.

Key is our ability and willingness to clearly, honestly and compassionately communicate our personal boundaries to others. This primer on creating effective boundaries can set you on your path to doing so.

How To Sleep Well with Mary Beth Janssen

Restorative sleep is a pillar of optimal well-being.  Insufficient sleep is now considered a major public health problem. Sleep insufficiency is linked to many hazardous outcomes while performing daily tasks. Persons experiencing sleep insufficiency are also more likely to suffer from chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, depression, and obesity, as well as from cancer, balance issues, increased mortality, and reduced quality of life and productivity. Sleep insufficiency may be caused by a number of health issues including anxiety, depression, pain syndromes, and more – as well as broad scale societal factors such as round-the-clock access to technology and work schedules, however sleep disorders such as insomnia or obstructive sleep apnea also play an important role. This eye-opening session (forgive the pun!) will cover holistic, mind-body health approaches to achieving sound slumber.

Yoga Nidra with Mary Beth Janssen

Yoga Nidra is also called Yoga sleep or dynamic sleep. This ancient tradition has been adapted to treat many of the chronic conditions of modern life. It prompts the body to deeply relax, while the mind stays inwardly alert and aware. A 30-minute yoga nidra practice equals approximately two hours of deep sleep. The practice works by gently guiding you through four main stages of brain wave activity – beta, alpha, theta, and beta. The goal is to achieve a “hypnagogic state” – the state between wakefulness and sleep. Scientific research is mounting on yoga nidras benefits for a range of conditions including sleep problems, chronic pain, depression, anxiety and PTSD. The technique is widely used in yoga studios, community centers, medical, institutional and military care settings. Enjoy this basic yoga nidra practice often. And do consider sourcing other versions online – including the iRest system (irest.org).

Extinguishing Burnout with Mary Beth Janssen

The National Academy of Medicine to the World Health Organization (WHO) and beyond, have deemed burnout a public health crisis – especially in the healthcare sector. And this was before being besieged by a historic, global pandemic. The Mayo Clinic defines job burnout as a “state of physical, emotional and/or mental exhaustion combined with doubts about your competence and the value of your work.” Burnout is extreme, unmanaged stress. This calls upon all of us to take a temperature check and see if this applies to us personally or, if a business leader, those on your team. The discussion here provides a grounding in the topic and resources for assessing, assuaging, and importantly, preventing burnout from taking its toll on people and on business – especially workforce retention (called “burn and churn” in HR circles). This includes devoting adequate time to nurturing self with adherence to the “six pillars of wellness” to the creation of a rock-solid wellness culture in the work environment. Personal, occupational, and organizational commitment are paramount.
